Corporate Profile

CEO Message

StormHarbour Japan launched its business in December 2010. It is a company established in Tokyo, alongside New York, London, Singapore and Hong Kong, by experienced bankers from leading global investment banking firms in the midst of the “storm” of financial crises, in 2009, who were united in their aspiration to better serve clients.

Our mission is to provide solutions with financing function utilising the capital markets and strategic advice including M&A to our clients’ challenges. We are genuinely able to contribute to our clients’ growth and value creation because we do not engage in proprietary trading nor securities underwriting, and thus are in a position to be objective without conflict of interests. For example, when a client is seeking financing, we provide advice and execution based on our global network and experience as to what form of financing is desirable, which type of institutional investors and financial institutions are recommendable combinations, what kind of message should be delivered to the markets and what procedures to take and how.

We are seriously pursuing what should be the societal role and function of a client-first investment bank. StormHarbour Japan’s role and function is to provide high value-added solutions from a capital markets perspective and to ensure that they are executed and realised with certainty for our clients, who are the leading players in the economy. By always being there in earnest for our clients, we believe we can pursue, and ultimately become, a new and unprecedented type of investment banking firm.

Thank you for your interest in StormHarbour. We hope you will enjoy your visit to our website and our group website.

Our Vision

==Pursuing “Democratisation of Investment Banking Services”==

Form of Investment Bank that We Seek

StormHarbour Japan seeks to realise a society in which Japanese companies of all sizes needing investment banking services can enjoy a full lineup of such services. Furthermore, we will contribute to resolving the challenges in the Japanese capital markets by supporting the growth of Japanese companies whose existing investment banking firms’ coverage is inadequate.

Challenges in the Japanese Capital Markets

Existing investment banking firms have not provided sufficient advice and services to companies having to achieve the listing requirements which has changed owing to the realignment of the Tokyo Stock Exchange markets; it has become apparent that, as a result, mid and small cap companies have been unable to execute financial and capital strategies needed for growth. Moreover, mid and small cap companies have small market capitalisation and therefore lack adequate coverage of existing investment banking firms.

Late stage pre-IPO companies have been unable to take full advantage of their growth opportunities despite high technological capabilities and competitiveness, institutional investors are non-existent and they lack advice on how to engage with the capital markets post-IPO. StormHarbour Japan will contribute to Japanese companies’ sustained growth by making efforts to resolve the structural issues facing the Japanese capital markets.

A Pivotal Presence in the Capital Markets

StormHarbour Japan enjoys a wide variety of relationships with major domestic banking groups and overseas financial institutions and aspires to increase the number of financial institutions who are like-minded in supporting the growth of Japanese companies. As an international finance hub, we will bring together those issuers who need financing and investors, thereby providing risk money which can contribute to the growth of Japanese companies.

Cross-domain Advisory

We are firmly committed to increasing our clients’ corporate value, and will seek to give optimal advice to solve multiple management issues as a corporate advisor and strategist. By utilising StormHarbour Japan’s global and abundant intelligence, expertise and track record, we are offering tailored financial solutions which meet the individual needs of our clients.

About Us

StormHarbour Japan, since its establishment, has upheld Integrity, Trust and Global Expertise as its corporate philosophy and has taken the position of true “client-first” in pursing the investment banking business. Concordia Financial Group, Inc. and Simplex Financial Holdings Co., Ltd. became our shareholders in December 2019, and by operating our business with our key partners in various fields in Japan and around the world we have gained further extensive capabilities in responding more broadly to the needs of our clients.

We are a securities company focused on being an advisor and an agent for our clients’ asset management and capital raising. It is conceivable to fall into a conflict of interest situation with our clients were we to use our own balance sheet but we are rigidly committed to a neutral position in pursuing a financial institution which will solve our clients’ challenges and support them by using our links with the capital markets including institutional investors and our knowledge base. Furthermore, we will work with domestic and global financial institutions to provide the functions we do not have in order to propose and execute the solution to clients’ challenges.

StormHarbour Japan welcomes corporations, financial institutions, asset management companies and institutional investors as our clients and will provide superior advice and high quality services by linking our clients organically, always with a view to domestic and global market trends for growth in clients’ corporate value, the duty of investment banking business.
